VIEWPOINT 2025: Shoich Rashed, Sales Director, Mek (Marantz Electronics)

VIEWPOINT 2025: Shoich Rashed, Sales Director, Mek (Marantz Electronics)

• 2024 was the year of penetrating new markets like India, one of the fastest growing electronics production regions in the world.

• There are plenty of new AOI system releases planned in 2025. As Mek is still innovating desktop inspection solutions for the smaller production batches, the 8th generation technology is scheduled for release in Q1 2025.

• The line up of AOI with 3D measurement technology is being further expanded with dedicated solution for SMT and THT components and solder joints.

• Mek started adopting AI technology already since 2017. We already fully automated programming SMT solder joints, a process that is seen as the most crucial, time consuming and error sensitive. With the availability of more powerful computers, now Mek succeeded in automating creation of complete inspection recipes only by loading data files like ODB++ or placement + Gerber data. This AI powered automatic programming is saving lots of time and avoids human mistakes.

• The challenges we faced in 2024 were mainly longer delivery times over sea. As a result opting more often for airfreight but that comes at a cost.

• Other challenges are skilled human resources close to our headquarters in the US and Europe. Therefore, we are looking outside our borders for personnel

• We are expecting to continue the growth success of previous year in 2025. Anticipating on more global geopolitical stability, the release of the new products and the powerful AI tools we provide, 2025 has all the ingredients to be the best year ever for Mek.

Mek: Driving Innovation and Growth in 2025
2024 was a transformative year for Mek as we expanded into new markets, particularly India, a rapidly growing hub for electronics production. This growth laid the foundation for an exciting 2025, where we plan to release a series of cutting-edge AOI systems, including the highly anticipated 8th-generation desktop inspection technology in Q1. These advancements are tailored to smaller production batches, reinforcing Mek's commitment to innovation.

We are also broadening our lineup of AOI solutions with 3D measurement technology for precise inspection of SMT and THT components and solder joints. Leveraging AI, a domain we've pioneered since 2017, Mek now automates inspection recipe creation by processing data files like ODB++ or Gerber. This breakthrough not only reduces time but eliminates human error, streamlining operations for our clients.

Despite challenges in 2024, including extended shipping times and talent shortages near our US and European headquarters, we've adapted by embracing airfreight and exploring global hiring. With geopolitical stability on the horizon and robust new product releases, 2025 promises to be Mek's strongest year yet. Together, innovation and resilience will propel Mek to new heights, delivering unparalleled value to our global partners.
